In person therapy in Albany, NY, and virtual therapy throughout New York, Connecticut, Vermont and Massachusetts.
Maybe you are pregnant or postpartum and just not feeling like yourself. Maybe you are dealing with reproductive loss, infertility, or your birth did not go as planned. Maybe you are a seasoned parent just trying to get through the day. Maybe you don’t have kids and don’t plan to, but you are entering midlife and all of a sudden things just don’t make sense the way they used to. Maybe you are neurodivergent or suspect you may be and your brain just won’t stop spinning.
You feel like you are…
stuck in cycles of overwhelm and exhaustion.
losing sight of who you are and who you want to be.
not sure why you are stuck in the same old patterns and looping thoughts after years of talk therapy.
feeling like your nervous system is being hijacked.
in a new life phase or transition and just not able to cope.
Together, we will get to the root of the issues, not just to change patterns of behavior but to really and truly heal.
I’m Emily.
And I’ve been there too.
I am a neurodivergent mom of two, who can profoundly empathize with having a brain and nervous system that craves calm and stability, and just can’t quite seem to get there.
I am also a therapist who believes in the power of deep understanding and a safe and supportive environment to heal.
Specializing in…
-
I have advanced training in perinatal mental health, and can support birthing people in all phases of their reproductive journey.
-
Midlife is a time of change and re-evaluation, which can bring about shifts in identity and a destabilized sense of self.
-
I am a certified EMDR therapist and take a trauma informed approach to help guide patients in a safe and supportive environment towards healing.
-
Anxiety can manifest cognitively and behaviorally as overthinking, ruminating, or perfectionism, and can show up in our body as tension, pain or discomfort. By better understanding the triggers and thought patterns and getting to their roots we can see a transformative alleviation of symptoms.
-
ADHD is a neurological difference that can create problems with emotion regulation, social connection, and executive functioning. This can cause extreme distress when trying to navigate a world that was not shaped for the neurodiverse brain. Symptoms of ADHD can manifest as inattention or hyperactivity, or both, are lifelong, and the experience of constantly being told or feeling that you are not living up to your potential or others and feeling like a failure for not living up to external expectations can cause shame and negative beliefs to take root, and can lead to depression and anxiety. My approach to working with people with diagnosed or suspected ADHD is to help you to better work with your brain, so you can feel freer and more at peace with yourself.
